Softball team’s defense stymies Diablo Valley

The Hawks softball team won 2-1 over the Diablo Valley College Vikings on March 22.

Both teams scored their points early. The Hawks scored both of their runs in the bottom of the first and the Vikings, their lone run in the top of the second.

The Hawks spent the remainder of the game playing defense with sophomore pitcher Ashlee Toy keeping the Vikings to just five recorded hits over the six and a half innings.

“So that’s kind of helped us as well, with our pitching and we’ve been managing

‘How I Met Your Father’ Reimagines its predecessors narrative

Hulu’s new spinoff “How I Met Your Father” gender swaps the main character to reimagine the premise of the successful CBS sitcom “How I Met Your Mother” that originally aired from 2005-2014.

The gender swapping of the main character is the most obvious change between the two shows replacing the character of Ted Mosby played by Josh Radnor (“Hunters”) and the late Bob Saget (“Full House”) with Sophie played by Hillary Duff (“Lizzie McGuire”) and Kim Cattrall (“Sex and the City.”)

The email from the district explained the reasoning for the move to online.

“We temporarily moved most in-person classes and services online with the goal of preventing the spread of the virus on our campuses and minimizing

Women’s basketball team adapts to new coach midseason

The Cosumnes River College women’s basketball team picked up their first win of the season after losing their first nine games, defeating Diablo Valley College on Jan. 25 with the final score of 66-38.

“When I took over, they were 10 games behind, no practice really, they were dealing with COVID issues, girls trying to get healthy and have to be quarantined so we didn’t have enough players,” said Interim Women’s Basketball Head Coach Jonathan James. “So, you know we slid into a situation where

Hulu’s comedy ‘Creamerie’ offers an intriguing premise, but few laughs

“Creamerie” is a dark comedy originally produced for the New Zealand market that started streaming in the United States on Hulu late in December.

The show’s premise is that in the near future, there is a plague that wipes out nearly all the men in the world and the 1% of men who survived were sent to be isolated in New Zealand. The show is set seven years after the plague, and we see how women have picked up the pieces and reinvented society.

The show centers on three women who live and work

Registration opens for spring with near parity of online and in-person options

Spring semester registration is here once again, and the administration is working to expand on-ground classes and services hoping that the worst of the pandemic is in the past.

With enrollment down since the onset of the pandemic, Cosumnes River College is adapting by balancing demand to return to campus with staff and student safety.

”We think we’ll have about 50% on ground, but that number is going to keep changing right? So, it’s really going to depend on the needs of students,” Associat

Denis Villeneuve delivers for fans with ‘Dune’

“Dune” 2021, directed by Denis Villeneuve, is a masterwork bringing Frank Herbert’s classic hard sci-fi novel to theatres.

I attended a late showing of the film at Century Laguna 16, on Oct. 29 with my spouse. We arrived at the theater and were greeted by a mostly empty lot and open parking about 50 yards from the front doors.

Upon arrival at the theater in our masks, we waited in the queue to have our pre-purchase tickets scanned and were given our stubs. We arrived early so there would be
